File Number: <br />TO: <br />FROM: <br />BY: <br />City of San Leandro <br />Meeting Date: March 3, 2014 <br />Staff Report <br />14-028 <br />City Council <br />Chris Zapata <br />City Manager <br />LaTanya Bellow <br />Human Resources Manager <br />Agenda Section: CONSENT CALENDAR <br />Agenda Number: 8.E. <br />FINANCE REVIEW: David Baum <br />Finance Director <br />TITLE: Staff Report for Resolution Amending the San Leandro City Employees' <br />Association (SLCEA) Salary Schedule to Add the Classifications of Senior <br />Public Safety Dispatcher and Public Safety Dispatcher Supervisor <br />SUMMARY AND RECOMMENDATIONS <br />Staff recommends that the City Council adopt a resolution to amend the salary schedule of <br />the San Leandro City Employees' Association (SLCEA) to establish the salaries for the new <br />classifications of Senior Public Safety Dispatcher and Public Safety Dispatcher Supervisor. <br />BACKGROUND <br />Staff recommends that the following classifications be added to the San Leandro City <br />Employees' Association (SLCEA) salary schedule to provide needed support to the Police <br />Department. <br />The Senior Public Safety Dispatcher would organize, assign and review the work of the daily <br />operations of the police communications center; provide a variety of law enforcement and <br />support services as required; perform the more difficult and sensitive support functions; and <br />perform the full range of dispatch and communications services as required. <br />The Public Safety Dispatcher Supervisor would direct, plan, organize, coordinate and maintain <br />the activities of the Police communications center; supervise staff responsible for the 24-hour <br />a day operation of emergency services of the Police Department; and perform the more <br />technical and complex tasks relative to assigned areas of responsibility. <br />The City has met and conferred to agreement with SLCEA regarding the above positions. <br />Board/Commission Review and Actions <br />City of San Leandro Page 1 Printed on 2125/2014 <br />
