EXHIBIT A <br /> SCOPE OF SERVICES <br /> PROJECT DESCRIPTION <br /> This project consists of the engineering services for the design of either of the <br /> following: <br /> • Conversion of the existing wet pit/dry pit lift station to a wet pit only, <br /> submersible lift station, or <br /> • Abandonment of the existing wet pit/dry pit lift station and the construction <br /> of a new submersible lift station on property owned by the City of San <br /> Leandro <br /> SCOPE OF SERVICES <br /> The scope of services is divided into the following tasks: <br /> • Task 1: Field Evaluation/Preliminary Design Report <br /> • Task 2: Plans and Specifications <br /> • Task 3: Bidding Assistance <br /> • Task 4: Construction Review. <br /> The purpose, scope, and deliverables for each task are described below. <br /> TASK 1: FIELD EVALUATION/PRELIMINARY DESIGN REPORT <br /> Purpose <br /> The purpose of this task is to provide a recommendation to the City as to whether <br /> the existing wet pit/dry pit lift station should be rehabilitated and converted into a <br /> submersible lift station or whether it should be abandoned and a new <br /> submersible lift station constructed. The City will make the final decision on which <br /> alternative is selected. <br /> Scope <br /> The scope of this task is to do the following: <br /> • Review the available plans and operational data for the existing lift station <br /> • Inspect the structural, mechanical, and electrical components of the <br /> existing Neptune Lift Station <br /> • Interview City Staff to obtain their input on the design of the new lift station <br /> • Develop a recommended discharge pumping rate for the new lift station <br /> • Develop an estimated system curve and recommend the submersible <br /> pumps to be installed <br /> • Prepare a geotechnical report, as required, for the design of a new lift <br /> station <br /> 1 2/28/98 Page 1 of 5 <br />
