<br />vice, provided however, that the Board of Zoning Adjustments may waive such <br />requirements, as it deems appropriate. <br /> <br />7. Landscaping. The following requirements shall govern the landscaping surround- <br />ing towers for which a special use permit is required, provided however, that the <br />Board of Zoning Adjustments may waive such requirements if the goals of this <br />Section would be better served thereby. <br /> <br />a. Tower facilities shall be landscaped with a buffer of plant material that effec- <br />tively screens the view of the tower compound from adjacent residential <br />property. The standard buffer shall consist of a landscaped strip at least five <br />(5) feet wide outside the perimeter of the compound. <br /> <br />b. In locations where the visual impact of the tower would be minimal, the land- <br />scaping requirement may be reduced or waived altogether. <br /> <br />c. Existing mature tree growth and natural land forms on the site shall be pre- <br />served to the maximum extent possible. In some cases, such as towers sited <br />in large, wooded lots, natural growth around the property perimeter may be <br />sufficient buffer. <br /> <br />M.G. Discontinued Facilities and Removal of Abandoned Antennas and Towers. <br /> <br />Any wireless telecommunications facility antenna or tower that is not operated for <br />a continuous period of twelve (12) months shall be considered abandoned, and the <br />owner of such antenna or tower facility shall remove same, and restore the site to its <br />pre-installation condition, within ninety (90) days of receipt of notice from the Com- <br />munity Development Department Director notifying the owner of such abandonment. <br />The notice shall specify that the owner has the opportunity to request a public hearing <br />on the removal of the antenna or tower facility. If such antenna or tower is not re- <br />moved within said ninety (90) days, the Community Development Director may re- <br />move such antenna or tower facility at the owner’s expense. If there are two (2) or <br />more users of a single tower facility , then this provision shall not become effective <br />until all users cease using the tower. Facility. (Ord. 2001-015 § 1) <br /> <br />Any wireless telecommunications facility shall be removed within thirty (30) cal- <br />endar days of the discontinuation of the use and shall be restored to its previous <br />condition. The service provider shall provide the Community Development De- <br />partment with a notice of intent to vacate the site a minimum of thirty (30) calen- <br />dar days prior to vacation and shall obtain building permits prior to removal of <br />equipment. For facilities located on City property, this requirement shall be in- <br />cluded in the terms of the lease.
