The Project is upgrade or installation of new security cameras and <br />related infrastructure in the first and second floors of City Hall, the City Hall basement, and the <br />Police Department basement (City jail). In total , 44 cameras will be installed in City Hall and <br />the Police Department, including the City jail. <br />All of the security cameras are capable of recording audio. However , staff plans to record <br />video only, with the exception of the City jail, which will record both audio and video. Cameras <br />throughout City Hall will have the audio disabled through specific hardware when they are <br />installed. <br />Previous City Council Actions <br />·On July 21, 2014, the City Council approved Phase 1 of the project to install the Civic <br />Center Security Camera System. <br />·On May 5, 2014, the City Council heard comments from the Police Department regarding <br />the Community Cameras Policy and provided direction for further analyses. <br />ATTACHMENTS <br />Page 1 City of San Leandro Printed on 8/26/2014
