Sobrante Park
Home Improvement Association 457 Capristrano Dr. Oakland, CA 94603
January 30, 2014
Chris Zapata
City Manager
City of San Leandro
835 East 14'h Street
San Leandro CA 94577
RE: Application for Partnership Planning for Sustainable Transportation Grant
for San Leandro Creek Greenway Project
Dear Mr. Zapata
The Sobrante Park Home Improvement Association would like to convey its strong support for
Partnership Planning for Sustainable Transportation Grant application from Caltrans for the
proposed San Leandro Creek Linear Park Greenway Trail project.
The Sobrante Park Home Improvement Association (SPHIA) established in 1941, is a
community-based consortium comprised of concerned community members whose mission is to
enhance the lives of all residents by addressing issues and concerns of the neighborhood through
collaborative planning and community action as well as provides a forum for service and civic
engagement. SPHIA takes action necessary to promote neighborhood engagement and planning.
We encourage your support of the application for the Partnership Planning for Sustainable
Transportation Grant. The San Leandro Greenway Project enhances the Sobrante Park
Neighborhood Improvement Plan, as it will not only link current bike trails to regional trails; but
also promote recreational opportunities to increase public wellness.
