95% of the creeks in California have been destroyed by channelization, culverts or
alterations. San Leandro Creek is one of the last remaining open creeks in the East
Bay. Planning for a multi -use greenway will accentuate and highlight the very special
place San Leandro Creek is. Its location makes it a perfect connector between BART,
AC Transit, work, school, and is just a lovely natural place in the middle of an urban
area.
Friends of San Leandro Creek wholeheartedly endorse the planning grant and project.
We hope that Cal Trans finds the Multi -Use Greenway Trail as important for our
community and the environment as we do.
Most sincerely,
Susan Levenson
Watershed Awareness Coordinator
Friends of San Leandro Creek
Friends of San Leandro Creek is a 501(c)(3) not for profit organization.
