$AN City of San Leandro <br />Meeting Date: October 20, 2014 <br />Staff Report <br />File Number: 14-381 Agenda Section: CONSENT CALENDAR <br />Agenda Number: 8.E. <br />TO: City Council <br />FROM: Chris Zapata <br />City Manager <br />BY: Uchenna Udemezue <br />Engineering & Transportation Director <br />FINANCE REVIEW: David Baum <br />Finance Director <br />TITLE: Staff Report for a Resolution Awarding Construction Contract to Southland <br />Construction for the San Leandro Ball Park Locker / Restroom Refurbishment, <br />Project No. 2003.0331 <br />SUMMARY AND RECOMMENDATIONS <br />This contract provides for accessibility upgrades to the existing public restrooms and team <br />locker rooms at the San Leandro Ball Park. <br />Staff recommends award of a contract to the lowest responsible bidder, Southland <br />Construction, in the amount of $242,634 for the subject project. <br />-11 <br />On March 2, 2009, the City received a Project Grant amount of $3,740,998 from the East Bay <br />Regional Park District (EBRPD) pursuant to the Measure WW Park Bond. The funds are for <br />the acquisition and development of neighborhood, community, regional parks, and recreation <br />lands and facilities. City staff asked residents for their input on how they would like the money <br />spent, and then chose to proceed with the top ten projects. <br />The amount of $515,452 in WW funds is allocated to the City to renovate the public restroom <br />and team lockers at the San Leandro Ball Park. These facilities are over 45 years old and in <br />need of refurbishment. This project will replace the interior finishes, partitions, lighting, and <br />plumbing fixtures, as well as complete accessibility upgrades to these rooms. <br />Analysis <br />Bids were opened on September 2, 2014. Seven bids were received of which six were <br />responsive with bid amounts ranging from $242,634 to $551,000. The Engineer's Estimate <br />for the work is $392,000. Southland Construction submitted the lowest responsive bid of <br />$242,634.
