File Number: 14-526
authorizing the creation of 2.0 FTE additional School Resource Officer positions, and accept
$250,000 in funds from the COPS office to partially off-set the costs of these new staffing
positions. As outlined in Attachment A, this would result in approximately $1.3 million of
General Fund costs over the 4-year duration of the grant.
Fiscal Impacts
If adopted by the City Council, the City Manager's recommendation would commit
approximately $1.3 million in additional City funds over the four-year duration of the grant. It
is also important to note that when the grant expires, it is anticipated that the City would
absorb the ongoing costs of the two additional staffing positions. These additional, ongoing
costs beyond the fourth year of the grant are not reflected in the attached funding formula.
ATTACHMENTS
• Attachment A: City Manager's Recommended Cost Sharing Formula
• Attachment B: Memorandum from SLUSD Superintendent Mike McLaughlin
PREPARED BY: Chris Zapata, City Manager
City of San Leandro Page 3 Printed on 12/9/2014
