City of San Leandro
Meeting Date: January 5, 2015
Staff Report
File Number: 14-557 Agenda Section: CONSENT CALENDAR
Agenda Number: 8.F.
TO: City Council
FROM: Chris Zapata
City Manager
BY: LaTanya Bellow
Human Resources Manager
FINANCE REVIEW: David Baum
Finance Director
TITLE: Staff Report for Resolution Adopting the City Manager Salary Schedule.
SUMMARY AND RECOMMENDATIONS
Staff recommends that the City Council adopt a resolution to establish the salary schedule for
the City Manager.
BACKGROUND
On January 17, 2012, the City Council approved the employment agreement with the City
Manager, Chris Zapata. Subsequently on November 19, 2012, the City Council approved a
decrease in the City Manager's salary with an effective date of January 1, 2013 in conjunction
with the approval of the Assistant City Manager and Police Chief employment agreements.
However, a revised salary schedule for the City Manager was not approved memorializing the
decrease in salary.
According to CalPERS, a salary schedule that complies with current regulations is required for
all CalPERS employees.
