<br />On October 7, 2005, at 10:13 a.m., Alexander Elkin, 45, armed with a handgun, shot two
<br />people in different parking lots in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He shot his ex-wife and then
<br />drove with her body in the car to kill her friend at another location. An off-duty police officer
<br />witnessed the shooting and flagged down an on -duty police officer to pursue the shooter.
<br />After an exchange of gunfire with police, the shooter retreated to his car, where he committed
<br />suicide. Two people were killed; no one was wounded.

<br />On November 8, 2005, at 2:14 p.m., Kenneth S. Bartley, 14, armed with a handgun, began
<br />shooting in Campbell County Comprehensive High School in Jacksboro, Tennessee. Before
<br />the shooting, he had been called to the office when administrators received a report that
<br />he had a gun. When confronted, he shot and killed an assistant principal and wounded the
<br />principal and another assistant principal. The shooter was restrained by students and adminis-
<br />trators until police arrived and took him into custody.

<br />On November 20, 2005, at 12:00 p.m., Dominick Sergil Maldonado, 20, armed with a
<br />rifle and a handgun, began shooting at shoppers in the Tacoma Mall in Tacoma, Wash-
<br />ington. After he stopped shooting, he barricaded himself and four hostages in a store.
<br />The shooter was apprehended by police after a three-hour standoff. No one was killed;
<br />six people were wounded.
<br />On November 22, 2005, at 6:10 a.m., an unidentified male armed with a rifle, began shooting
<br />in a Burger King in North Augusta, South Carolina, and then ran to a nearby Huddle House
<br />restaurant, where he continued shooting before fleeing. One person was killed; two were
<br />wounded. The suspect was still at large as of September 2014.

<br />armed with a handgun, began shooting at her previous place of employment, the Santa Bar-
<br />bara U.S. Postal Processing and Distribution Center in Goleta, California. Six people were
<br />killed; no one was wounded. The shooter committed suicide before police arrived.
<br />On March 14, 2006, at 9:00 a.m., James Scott Newman, 14, armed with a handgun, began
<br />shooting outside the cafeteria at Pine Middle School in Reno, Nevada. No one was killed;
<br />two were wounded. The shooter was restrained by a teacher until police arrived and took him
<br />into custody.
<br />On March 25, 2006, at 7:03 a.m., Kyle Aaron Huff, 28, armed with a handgun, a shotgun,
<br />and a rifle, began shooting at a rave after -party in the Capitol Hill neighborhood of Seattle,
<br />Washington. Six people were killed; two were wounded. The shooter committed suicide as
<br />police confronted him.
