<br />On Much 10, 2009, at 4:00 p.m. Michael Kenneth McLendon, 28, armed with a rifle,
<br />killed five family members at various locations as he traveled through Coffee and Geneva
<br />Counties in southeast Alabama and continued shooting. A total of 10 people were killed;
<br />one police officer was wounded. During an exchange of gunfire with police, the shooter
<br />committed suicide.
<br />Pinelake Health and Rehabilitation Center
<br />On March 29, 2009, at 10:00 a.m., Robert Kenneth Stewart, 45, armed with a handgun,
<br />a shotgun, and a rifle, began shooting in the Pinelake Health and Rehabilitation Center in
<br />Carthage, North Carolina, where his estranged wife worked. He did not find her. Eight people
<br />were killed; three were wounded, including one police officer. The shooter was apprehended
<br />after being wounded during an exchange of gunfire with police.

<br />On April 3, 2009, at 10:31 a.m., Linh Phat Voong, aka Jiverly Wong, 41, armed with two
<br />handguns, began shooting in the American Civic Association Center in Binghamton, New
<br />York. He previously had taken classes at the center. The shooter blocked the back door of the
<br />building with his car and then entered through the front door. Thirteen people were killed;
<br />four were wounded. The shooter committed suicide before police arrived.
<br />On April 7, 2009 at 7:23 p.m., John Suchan Chong, 69, armed with a handgun, began shoot-
<br />ing at residents in the Kkottongnae Retreat Camp in Temecula, California, where he was
<br />employed as a handyman. The shooter walked from cabin to cabin shooting residents until he
<br />was restrained by citizens. One person was killed; two were wounded.
<br />On April 26, 2009, at 12:57 a.m., Odane Greg Maye, 18, armed with three handguns, began
<br />shooting in Harkness Hall, a residence hall at Hampton University in Hampton, Virginia, and
<br />then shot himself before police arrived. The shooter had briefly attended the university. A
<br />dormitory manager pulled the fire alarm when the shooting began, emptying the building. No
<br />one was killed; two were wounded. He was apprehended by police.

<br />On May 18, 2009, at 9:00 a.m., Justin Doucet, 15, armed with a handgun, fired once at a
<br />teacher at Larose -Cut Off Middle School in Cut Off, Louisiana, then went to the bathroom
<br />and shot himself. He died a week later. No one was killed or wounded.
<br />On June 1, 2009, at 10:19 a.m., Carlos Leon Bledsoe, aka Adbulhakim Mujahid Muhammad,
<br />23, armed with two rifles and a handgun, drove up and began firing on soldiers outside the
<br />U.S. Army Recruiting Center in North Little Rock, Arkansas. One person was killed; one
<br />was wounded. The shooter was apprehended by police.
<br />On June 10, 2009, at 12:52 p.m., James Wenneker von Brunn, 88, aimed witha rifle, began
<br />shooting in the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum in Washington, D.C. He shot the
<br />security guard who opened the door to the building and exchanged gunfire with other securi-
<br />ty guards. One person was killed; no one was wounded. The shooter was wounded and died
<br />in custody six months later.
