Our goal is to provide a fun and safe environment for San <br />Leandro teens during their summer break. We estimate approximately 70+ teens will attend <br />each weekly event. Teens will be supervised by Recreation staff and, to ensure the safety of <br />participants, no ins and outs will be permitted. The limited teen programs offered during <br />Summer 2014 incurred waitlists for every session. Based on community demand, this is a <br />feasible program that meets a demonstrated need for expanded teen programming in our <br />community. <br />The roving program will be advertised to teens through various outreach methods to notify <br />them that Teen Takeover is “coming Summer 2015.” To retain the mystique surrounding the <br />pop-up locations, venue specific information will be released only 24-72 hours in advance <br />through Instagram, text message notifications, Facebook and YAC (Youth Advisory <br />Commission) Outreach. <br />Fiscal Impacts <br />The total cost of implementing the Pop-Up Teen Center during Summer 2015 is $8,750 for a <br />nine-week session. <br />$ 4,905 - Start-Up Supplies (Xbox, TV, Gaming equipment, snacks, art supplies) <br />$ 3,845 - Staff (Recreation Specialist, Leader, Security, Lifeguards) <br />$ 8,750 - Total <br />Budget Authority <br />City Council approval of Appropriation for $8,750 from the General Fund Economic <br />Uncertainty Reserve to the teen budget 010-61-007-6230. <br />ATTACHMENT <br />None. <br />PREPARED BY: Breyana Riggsbee, Acting Recreation and Human Services Director, <br />Recreation and Human Services Department <br />Page 2 City of San Leandro Printed on 3/31/2015
