City of San Leandro
Meeting Date: July 20, 2015
Staff Report
Agenda Section:File Number:15-369 CONSENT CALENDAR
Agenda Number:8.Q.
TO:City Council
FROM:Chris Zapata
City Manager
BY:Keith Cooke
Engineering & Transportation Director
FINANCE REVIEW:David Baum
Finance Director
TITLE:Staff Report for a Resolution of the San Leandro Hillside Geologic Hazard
Abatement District to Approve the Annual Report of the San Leandro Hillside
Geologic Hazard Abatement District (GHAD) for Fiscal Year 2014-15
SUMMARY AND RECOMMENDATIONS
This report is an update on the activities of the San Leandro Hillside Geologic Hazard
Abatement District (GHAD) for Fiscal Year 2014-15.
Staff recommends City Council approve the annual report of the GHAD for Fiscal Year
2014-15.
BACKGROUND
Following the hillside slide of 1998, the City Council, by Resolution No. 2000-172, approved
the formation of the GHAD and appointed itself to act as the Board of Directors. The GHAD
serves as a funding mechanism to repair and maintain the Hillside Drive landslide area using
grant funds from the state and federal governments. The repairs have been completed and
now the GHAD major efforts are the maintenance and monitoring of the slide area’s retaining
system, drainage system and ground cover.
Analysis
Public Works staff completed only minor maintenance work on the GHAD facilities during this
past fiscal year. Recent site investigation by staff did not indicate any signs of slope
movement. It is anticipated that there will be no major work at the site during the upcoming
fiscal year.
Current Agency Policies
Page 1 City of San Leandro Printed on 7/14/2015
