File Number: 15-500
add color and art to Downtown San Leandro. A signature crosswalk continues to build on the
momentum of art and innovation in the City.
The Facilities and Transportation Committee recommended this item be referred to the City
Council and requested a third option, the wagon wheel design in a rainbow color palette, be
considered.
Duratherm, the company that embeds the color into asphalt, was contacted regarding this
third option, the wagon wheel design in a rainbow color palette, and indicated that there would
be an additional cost of approximately $25,000 for the four crosswalks. Due to the additional
cost of this third option, staff does not recommend further consideration. Staff requests that
the City Council provide direction regarding keeping the crosswalks as designed or amending
the design at the West Juana Avenue and Clarke Street intersection to a rainbow pattern to
celebrate art and diversity in San Leandro.
Fiscal Impacts
There is no fiscal impact related to this contract amendment.
ATTACHMENT
·Attachment A - Map of proposed intersection, the proposed rainbow crosswalk design and
the wagon wheel design
PREPARED BY: Cynthia Battenberg, Community Development Director
Page 2 City of San Leandro Printed on 9/2/2015
