About 26 percent of the jobs in the city were <br />classified as being in the service sector, compared to 36 percent countywide. <br />The City's manufacturing base consists primarily of food processing, multimedia, transportation <br />equipment, medical instruments, and metal fabrication. San Leandro is home to Ghirardelli <br />Chocolate, Otis Spunkmeyer, Mi Rancho, and several sausage manufacturers. There are also a <br />number of large transportation and distribution facilities. Although San Leandro has not <br />traditionally been known as a technology or financial center, professional services is among the <br />fastest growing sectors of the city's economy.
