B. The City agrees to provide the Union the name, department, job class, and deduction <br /> status of all unit employees on a monthly basis. <br /> 2.2 Maintenance of Membership <br /> A. Union membership is not a mandatory condition of employment for any employee <br /> covered by this agreement. However, any employee covered by this agreement who is a <br /> Union member, or becomes a Union member, shall continue to pay to the Union those <br /> dues or fees regularly charged members of the Union in good standing for the life of this <br /> agreement. <br /> B. Every employee who is a member of the Union shall have the right to withdraw from <br /> membership during the last twenty (20) days of this Agreement. An employee who has <br /> properly withdrawn membership as provided herein shall not be subject to the provisions <br /> of section B.1. <br /> 2.3 Service Fee <br /> A. Deductions <br /> Pursuant to State law, Unit employees have by secret ballot, voted to implement Agency <br /> Shop. <br /> All employees in the unit who have not authorized an Union dues deduction shall within <br /> the thirty (30) day period following notification of their obligation under this agreement <br /> execute an authorization for the payroll deduction of one of the following: (1) Union dues; <br /> (2) an agency fee in an amount not to exceed the standard initiation fee,periodic dues, and <br /> general assessments of the organization; or (3) if he/she qualifies, a charity fee equal to <br /> the agency fee to a tax-exempt charitable organization that has been agreed to. <br /> To qualify for the designated charity fee deduction, an employee must certify to the Union <br /> that he/she is a member of a bona fide religion, body or sect which has historically held <br /> conscientious objections to joining or financially supporting public employee <br /> organizations. <br /> Such exempt unit employees will be required to submit to the Union a notarized letter <br /> certifying that person's membership in such a religion, body or sect, signed by an official <br /> of the bona fide religion,body or sect. <br /> If an employee fails to authorize one of the deductions,the City will deduct the agency fee <br /> amount from the employee's paycheck. <br /> B. Forfeiture of Deductions <br /> If the balance of an employee's wages, after all other involuntary and insurance premium <br /> deductions are made in any one pay period, is not sufficient to pay deductions by this <br /> article, no such deductions shall be made for that period. <br /> 2 <br />
