City of San Leandro <br />Meeting Date: October 3, 2016 <br />Resolution - Council <br />Agenda Section:File Number:16-477 CONSENT CALENDAR <br />Agenda Number: <br />TO:City Council <br />FROM:Chris ZapataCity Manager <br />BY:Jeff Tudor <br />Acting Chief of Police <br />FINANCE REVIEW:David Baum <br />Finance Director <br />TITLE:RESOLUTION Authorizing the City Manager to Accept the Department of <br />Justice’s Byrne Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) Award of $30,413.30 and to <br />Appropriate these Funds for Technology Improvements <br />WHEREAS, the Byrne JAG Program is administered by the U.S. Department of Justice, Office <br />of Justice Programs and was created in 2005 by merging the Edward Byrne Memorial Grant Program <br />(Byrne) with the Local Law Enforcement Block Grant Program (LLEBG); and <br />WHEREAS, Byrne JAG funding can be used to support a broad range of state and local <br />government projects, including those designed to prevent and control crime and to improve the <br />criminal justice system; and <br />WHEREAS, on June 16th, 2016, the San Leandro Police Department (SLPD) submitted a <br />request for grant funding through the County of Alameda for Byrne JAG funding to enhance mobile <br />accessibility of SLPD’s current computer-aided dispatch system; and <br />WHEREAS, the SLPD was awarded Department of Justice (DOJ)-JAG funding of $30,413.30 <br />for the project proposed. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of San Leandro does RESOLVE as follows: <br />1.That the City Manager is authorized to accept the Department of Justice-Justice Assistance <br />Grant award for technology improvements totaling $30,413.30; and <br />2.That an appropriation of the DOJ-JAG funding of $30,413.30 to account #150-21-052 is <br />approved. <br />Page 1 City of San Leandro Printed on 9/27/2016
