IN THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN LEANDRO <br />RESOLUTION NO. 2016-127 <br />RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ACCEPT THE <br />DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE'S BYRNE JUSTICE ASSISTANCE GRANT (JAG) <br />AWARD OF $30,413.30 AND TO APPROPRIATE THESE FUNDS FOR TECHNOLOGY <br />IMPROVEMENTS <br />WHEREAS, the Byrne JAG Program is administered by the U.S. Department of Justice, Office of <br />Justice Programs and was created in 2005 by merging the Edward Byrne Memorial Grant Program <br />(Byrne) with the Local Law Enforcement Block Grant Program (LLEBG); and <br />WHEREAS, Byrne JAG funding can be used to support a broad range of state and local <br />government projects, including those designed to prevent and control crime and to improve the criminal <br />justice system; and <br />WHEREAS, on June 16th, 2016, the San Leandro Police Department (SLPD) submitted a request <br />for grant funding through the County of Alameda for Byrne JAG funding to enhance mobile accessibility of <br />SLPD's current computer-aided dispatch system; and <br />WHEREAS, the SLPD was awarded Department of Justice (DOJ) -JAG funding of $30,413.30 for <br />the project proposed. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of San Leandro does RESOLVE as follows: <br />1. That the City Manager is authorized to accept the Department of Justice—Justice Assistance <br />Grant award for technology improvements totaling $30,413.30; and <br />2.
