The contract is valued at $93,600.00 over three years.
BACKGROUND
The City of San Leandro recently upgraded its core internet architecture to support a 10
gigabit aggregated internet connection using the Lit San Leandro fiber network. This contract
will provide the gigabit internet service for that architecture, as planned.
Analysis
City staff recently completed a project to upgrade the City’s core internet architecture to
support a 10 gigabit connection using the Lit San Leandro fiber network. The proposed
contract provides the City with a 10 gigabit internet connection at City Hall, which will be
utilized by all other City facilities.
The City has been in contract with AT&T for a 40 Mbps connection at City Hall, Crosslink for a
connection at the Main Library and Police Department, and Comcast for connections at City
Hall and the Senior Center. The total combined monthly cost of all of these contracts is
approximately $3,700.00
These connections will now be aggregated into the centralized 10 gigabit port at City Hall
provided by Crosslink Networks. As a result, the other service contracts can be terminated,
representing an approximate monthly savings of 30% while increasing overall bandwidth
speed several times over.
Page 1 City of San Leandro Printed on 11/1/2016
