File Number: 16-629 <br />this Ordinance is in force, a true copy of the California Residential Building Code shall be kept for <br />public inspection in the office of the San Leandro Building Division. <br />Section 7-5-105: ENFORCEMENT AND ABATEMENT PROCEDURES. Enforcement and <br />abatement procedures set forth in the San Leandro Building Code or Articles 11, 12, and 13 of <br />this Chapter shall apply to this Article. <br />Chapter 1 of the 2016 California Building Code is amended and adopted, and shall be known as <br />the “City of San Leandro Building Code”, as follows: <br />CHAPTER 1 <br />ADMINISTRATION <br />SECTION 101 <br />GENERAL <br /> <br />101.1 Title. <br /> <br />These regulations shall be known as the City of San Leandro Building Code, hereinafter referred <br />to as “this Code.” <br /> <br />101.2 Scope. <br /> <br />The provisions of this Code shall apply to the construction, alteration, relocation, movement, <br />enlargement, replacement, repair, equipment, use and occupancy, location, maintenance, <br />removal and demolition of every building or structure or any appurtenances or systems connected <br />or attached to such buildings or structures. <br /> <br />101.2.1 Appendices. <br /> <br />Provisions in the appendices can be approved for use by the Building Official. <br /> <br />101.3 Purpose and Intent. <br /> <br />The purpose of this Code is to establish minimum standards to safeguard public health, safety, <br />and general welfare by regulating the design, structural strength, means of egress facilities, <br />stability, sanitation, adequate light and ventilation, construction, installation, quality of materials, <br />use, occupancy, location, energy conservation and maintenance of all buildings, structures, and <br />certain equipment as specifically set forth herein and safety to life and property from fire and other <br />hazards attributed to the built environment and to provide safety to firefighters and emergency <br />responders during emergency operations. Consistent with this purpose, the provisions of this <br />Code are intended and always have been intended to confer a benefit on the community as a <br />whole and are not intended to establish a duty of care toward any particular person. <br />This Code shall not be construed to hold the City of San Leandro or any officer, employee or <br />agent thereof responsible for any damage to persons or property by reason of any inspection <br />authorized herein or by reason of the issuance or non-issuance of any permit authorized herein, <br />Page 2 City of San Leandro Printed on 11/15/2016
