City of San Leandro <br />Meeting Date: December 5, 2016 <br />Staff Report <br />Agenda Section:File Number:16-616 CONSENT CALENDAR <br />Agenda Number:8.C. <br />TO:City Council <br />FROM:Chris Zapata <br />City Manager <br />BY:Debbie Pollart <br />Public Works Director <br />FINANCE REVIEW:David Baum <br />Finance Director <br />TITLE:Staff Report for Resolution Authorizing the City Manager to Execute a <br />Non-Professional Services Agreement with George Salinas Tree Preservation <br />for Boulevard Yarwood Sycamore Tree Trimming <br />SUMMARY AND RECOMMENDATIONS <br />Staff recommends that the City Council authorize the City Manager to execute a Non-Professional <br />Services Agreement with George Salinas Tree Preservation for an amount of $57,216 ($48.00 <br />per tree) to perform annual tree trimming of Yarwood Sycamore trees on major boulevards and <br />adjacent side streets. <br />BACKGROUND <br />On August 30, 2016, the Finance Department issued Bid No. 16-17.004 for boulevard Yarwood <br />Sycamore tree trimming. Two firms submitted bids on or before the submittal deadline, <br />September 14, 2016. George Salinas Tree Preservation submitted the lowest bid for a price of <br />$48.00 per tree. The total contract amount will be $57,216 to trim 1,192 trees. The bid price <br />includes all labor, materials, disposal, transportation and equipment necessary to perform the <br />work. Once the contract is awarded, the contractor will have 60 working days to complete the <br />work. <br />Fiscal Impacts <br />The Agreement will cost $48.00 per tree, for a total of $57,216 for the annual tree trimming. The <br />bid price includes trimming 1,192 trees along major boulevards and adjacent streets. <br />Budget Authority <br />Staff will request a purchase order for $57,216 for account 010-33-001-5340.
