The amendment extends the current agreement for the operation of the <br />FLEX Shuttle -- the City’s Paratransit Transportation Program -- for one year, continuing <br />service through June 30, 2018. <br />BACKGROUND <br />The City of San Leandro has contracted with MV Transportation, Inc. since 2003 to provide <br />transportation services for the FLEX Shuttle Paratransit program. Funding for this program is <br />allocated through the Alameda County voter-approved Measures B and BB. In November <br />2016, Council approved an agreement to provide paratransit services from November 1, 2016 <br />- June 30, 2017. Based on the evaluations and service provided, staff recommends <br />amending the contract to extend the services provided from July 1, 2017 - June 30, 2018. <br />The City of San Leandro currently contracts with MV Transportation, Inc. to provide two <br />shuttles and the corresponding drivers to operate the program alongside a North Route and <br />South Route within San Leandro. The shuttle service runs regular service hours from 9:00 <br />a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Monday - Friday and is non-operational for City holidays. The FLEX Shuttle <br />program is open to San Leandro residents who are 60 years and older or at least 18 years old <br />and East Bay Paratransit certified. Currently, there are 280 valid annual memberships for the <br />FLEX Shuttle. <br />The goal of the FLEX Shuttle Program is to deliver quality, on-time paratransit shuttle services <br />Page 1 City of San Leandro Printed on 5/30/2017 <br />127
