City Council Goals for the Year 2000 <br />Project Name: Fire Stations 10 (move from Davis Street to Williams/Doolittle area) and 11 <br />(move from Marina Boulevard to Catalina Street) <br />Project Description: Construction of two new fire stations to replace the existing ones located <br />on Davis Street and Marina Boulevard. The existing stations are both functionally and <br />seismically inadequate. <br />Vision/Opportunities: This project will complete the Fire Station Seismic Retrofit Project and <br />also improve response time to the service areas. <br />Constraints: Property acquisition of sites for both facilities. State Seismic Funds must be <br />encumbered by December 1999. <br />Timeline: Both sites included in this timeline <br />January 2000: <br />Completion of Prototype Design <br />January 2000: <br />Facilities Committee Review: <br />February 2000: <br />Begin Design of both fire stations <br />May 2000: <br />Facilities Committee Review <br />July 2000: <br />Design Completion <br />July 2000: <br />Call for Bid <br />August 2000: <br />Bid Award <br />November 2000 <br />Construction Start <br />August 2001 <br />Construction Completion <br />Performance Indicators/Identifiable Milestones: <br />1) Completion of Prototype Design <br />2) Property Acquisition <br />3) Ground Breaking/Construction <br />4) Relocation <br />Fiscal Impacts: An estimate will be prepared at the end of the conceptual design in November. <br />Bonds will be sold to finance the project.
