IN THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN LEANDRO <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 2017-156 <br /> RESOLUTION TO AUTHORIZE THE CITY MANAGER TO NEGOTIATE AND <br /> APPROVE INCREASES IN INDIVIDUAL AND CUMULATIVE CHANGE <br /> ORDERS FROM 10% TO 15% (FROM S51,788 TO S77,682; AN INCREASE OF <br /> $25,894) FOR THE CONSTRUCTION CONTRACT WITH CENTURY CARPET <br /> FOR THE MAIN LIBRARY CARPET REPLACEMENT PROJECT, PROJECT <br /> NO. 2014.0370 (PROVIDES AN INCREASED CONTRACT CHANGE ORDER <br /> CAP FOR THE CONSTRUCTION CONTRACT WITH CENTURY CARPET <br /> FOR THE MAIN LIBRARY CARPET REPLACEMENT PROJECT) <br /> WHEREAS, the City of San Leandro did on November 7, 2016 award a construction <br /> contract to Century Carpet by Resolution No. 2016-143 for the Main Library Carpet <br /> Replacement Project, Project No. 201.4.0370; and <br /> WHEREAS, the City of San Leandro did on.lanuary 17, 2017 increase the construction <br /> contract change order authorization to 10% by Resolution No. 201.7-007 for the subject project; <br /> and <br /> WHEREAS, in order to expedite the delivery of public projects on schedule and on <br /> budget, provide that subcontractors and workers are paid in a timely fashion, avoid as much as <br /> possible costly delay claims, and insure that the City completes projects and products that are to <br /> the City's highest standards, the City Council finds that providing authorization to negotiate and <br /> approve change orders is in the best interest of public health, safety and welfare. <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of San Leandro does RESOLVE as <br /> follows: <br /> That the City tManager or his designee is authorized to negotiate and approve cumulative <br /> change orders up to a maximum of$77,682, which is 15% of the original contract amount. <br /> Introduced by Councilmember Hernandez, and passed and adopted this 6th day of <br /> November 2017, by the following vote: <br /> Members of the Council: <br /> AYES: Councilmembers Ballew, Cox, Fernandez, Lee, Lopez, Thomas; (6) <br /> NOES: None (0) <br /> EXCUSED: Mayor Cutter (1) <br /> \J <br /> k <br /> ATTEST: .,. <br /> l,amrka Greenwo <br /> od, City Clerk <br />
