10 <br /> <br />San Leandro’s original Hazard Mitigation Plan, adopted on July 5, 2005 by the City Council, <br />was reviewed and commented on by the State Hazard Mitigation Officer in the Governor’s <br />Office of Emergency Services, FEMA, and the public. Upon acceptance by <br />FEMA, the City will gain eligibility for Hazard Mitigation Grant Program funds. <br /> <br />1.3 GOALS <br /> <br />The following goals are the foundation for the objectives detailed below and are <br />considered the basis for hazard mitigation in the City of San Leandro. <br /> <br />LHMP-1. Protect the community. Protect the community from <br />unreasonable risk to life and property caused by hazards <br />and/or disaster events. <br /> <br />LHMP-2. Build local government capacity. Build local <br />government capacity by hardening facilities, updating, <br />and implementing a continuity of government plan to <br />respond to hazards and disaster events. <br /> <br /> <br />LHMP-3. Protect economic resources. Protect San Leandro’s <br />economic resources to provide assistance in disaster <br />relief and recovery; and sustain an economic base to <br />support services for San Leandro residents, employees <br />and visitors. <br /> <br />LHMP-4. Establish a comprehensive outreach plan.
