The third amendment will permit the City to continue providing first <br />responder services, which are currently handled through the City’s contract for services with the <br />Alameda County Fire Department. <br />BACKGROUND AND SUMMARY <br />On November 1, 2011, the City of San Leandro (the “City”) and the County of Alameda (the <br />“County”) executed an Emergency Medical Services First Responder Advanced Life Support <br />Services Agreement (the “Agreement”). The Agreement permits the City to provide, and receive <br />funding for, seven First Responder Advanced Life Support (“FRALS”) Units and to serve as a <br />designated provider of FRALS, or emergency, Services. <br />In May 2016, the City and County executed a first amendment to the Agreement (the “First <br />Amendment”) in order to extend the term of the Agreement until as late as October 2017 and <br />revise the revenue and support provided to the City for the services provided under the <br />Agreement. The First Amendment also ensured continued payment for the FRALS Services <br />provided by the City under the Agreement. Attached is a copy of the Agreement. <br />In November 2017, the City and County executed the Second Amendment to the Agreement (the <br />“Second Amendment”) in order to extend the term of the Agreement and revise the revenue and <br />support provided to the City for the services provided under the Agreement.
