DISCUSSION ITEMS <br />2.A. 18-358 Staff Update on Street Repair and Crosswalk Projects and Project Funding <br />City Engineer Nick Thom presented an update on Street Sealing 2017-18, Overlay and <br />Rehabilitation 2016-17 Phase 2, Overlay and Rehabilitation 2017-18 and Pedestrian Crossings <br />2016-17 Phase 1 projects that will be awarded for construction at the July 16 City Council <br />meeting. <br /> <br />Committee Requests/Direction to Staff: <br />The Committee recommends research into alternatives to the traffic delineators at the San <br />Leandro/Best/Park intersection such as flower boxes or more aesthetically appealing traffic <br />calming solutions. <br />Council Member Lopez requested a list of streets scheduled for repair. <br />2.B. 18-359 Staff Update on Capital Improvement Projects <br />Engineering and Transportation Director Keith Cooke opened the floor for questions and <br />discussion regarding ongoing capital improvement projects. <br />Nick Thom provided updates regarding water treatment requirements and the chemical storage <br />facilities modifications needed for the Boys and Girls Club Pool Resurfacing project. He also <br />provided an update on the erosion control work and rip-rap repair needed to protect the Bay Trail <br />and marshlands and the potential for grant funding. <br />Committee Requests/Direction to Staff: <br />The Committee believes the school district staff needs to be updated on the Farrelly Pool project <br />and asked to be copied on the correspondence. <br />Mayor Cutter would like to discuss significant transportation and streetscape projects and <br />possible funding mechanisms. <br /> <br />Council Member Lopez requested that staff follow up with the community on improvements <br />implemented at the intersection of San Leandro Blvd and Best Street.
