City of San Leandro <br />Meeting Date: September 17, 2018 <br />Resolution - Council <br />Agenda Section:File Number:18-420 ACTION ITEMS <br />Agenda Number: <br />TO:City Council <br />FROM:Jeff Kay <br />City Manager <br />BY:Jeff Kay <br />City Manager <br />FINANCE REVIEW:Not Applicable <br />TITLE:RESOLUTION of the City Council to Approve and Adopt the Fiber Optic Master <br />Plan <br />WHEREAS, in July 2017 the City contracted with Magellan Advisors to develop a Fiber <br />Optic Master Plan; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Fiber Optic Master Plan provides specific recommendations regarding <br />the enhancement and expansion of the City’s municipal fiber network; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Fiber Optic Master Plan includes a comprehensive Smart City Strategy <br />intended to guide the deployment of “smart” technology solutions and services in the future; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City together with Magellan Advisors, conducted four public meetings and <br />two online surveys to receive resident and business comment and input; and <br />WHEREAS, the 2018 Fiber Optic Master Plan is wholly consistent with the 2035 San <br />Leandro General Plan, the 2018 Bicycle and Pedestrian Master Plan, the City’s Hazard <br />Mitigation Plan, and the Bayfair Transit Oriented Development Master Plan; and; <br />WHEREAS, the City Council saw a draft presentation of the preliminary results of the <br />study during a City Council Work Session on June 11, 2018, during which the Council provided <br />input and guidance on the final draft; and <br />WHEREAS, the City Council is familiar with the final draft of the Fiber Optic Master Plan <br />attached to this resolution. <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of San Leandro HEREBY RESOLVES <br />that the Fiber Optic Master Plan is approved and adopted. <br />Page 1 City of San Leandro Printed on 9/11/2018
