If <br />meeting is not an AV-enabled facility <br />(City Hall, Senior Community Center), <br />then meetings are typically recorded by <br />cell phone. <br />• ActiveNet has had a problematic <br />implementation due to lack of training, <br />but a budget has been established to <br />train staff over next 2 years. <br />• Regarding Human Services – there are <br />no HUD vouchers in San Leandro. Most <br />of the homeless are in about 10-15 <br />encampments, with many living in cars <br />and RVs at the Marina. <br />• Looking to film some events and would like to view in <br />real time. For example, the new competitive pool might <br />require fiber so that competitive swimming events can <br />be televised in real time. <br />• New shoreline park may require Bay programming to <br />support activities. <br />• Shoreline development as a Smart Community is still <br />undetermined as staff project manager or developer <br />have not indicated their intentions regarding the tech <br />infrastructure. <br />• Human Services is capturing new data (LotaData <br />dashboard obtained through STIR program) to reframe <br />the mindset of staff and to make programming <br />decisions. Previously there was no historic data. <br /> <br />Information Technology <br /> <br />The Information Technology Division provides technology solutions, guidance, training <br />and support for the growing technological needs within community. This includes its SL <br />Wi-Fiber and an Open Data Hub (providing various GIS information and public records). <br /> <br />In July 2015 the City of San Leandro launched SL Wi-Fiber, free public wireless internet <br />service in the downtown core. The gigabit Internet system utilizes fiber in Lit San Leandro. <br />The system has since been expanded to the Senior Community Center, the Casa Peralta <br />and Cherry Festival area on West Estudillo, the Marina Community Center and Civic <br />Center and Boys & Girls Club, City Hall, the Police Department and exterior Civic Center <br />plaza, Main Library, Public Works Service Center, and Water Pollution Control Plant. In <br />2017, City Council authorized a capital improvement project to expand public Wi-Fi into <br />parks and other City facilities. <br /> <br />The needs of the Information Technology Division have been addressed throughout this <br />Plan. IT’s personnel were contributors to many sections and worked alongside Magellan <br />in its development. In its role as the City’s provider of technology solutions, the Information <br />Technology Division needs are comprehensive of all other departments described herein. <br /> <br />Police Department <br /> <br />The City of San Leandro Police Department (SLPD) is comprised of four divisions and <br />units including the command staff, management staff, crime prevention unit and traffic <br />division. SLPD offers a variety of programs including alarm system registration, child car <br />seat safety, citizens police academy, citizen ride-along, crime free business program, <br />crime free multi-housing program, National Night Out, neighborhood watch, police
