City of San Leandro's Efforts to Affirmatively Further Fair Housing in the Jurisdiction <br />Policy/Action <br />Responsible City Staff, Department or <br />Organization <br />Description of Activity <br />Accomplishments <br />in FY 2017-18 <br />Policy 4: Support Local Fair Housing Activities and Services <br />The Al finds that fair housing is an ongoing concern in the HOME Consortium jurisdictions. In particular, interviews with local <br />service providers indicate that many homeseekers and landlords are unaware of federal and state fair housing laws. They also <br />remain unfamiliar with protections offered to seniors, disabled, and other special needs populations, as well as families and <br />protected classes. Each of the HOME Consortium jurisdictions currently undertakes a series of fair housing activities, with the <br />primary focus being ongoing outreach and education on fair housing rights for homeseekers, landlords, lenders, and agents.
