WHEREAS, in 2017, the City of San Leandro joined the Global Covenant ofMayors, a global <br />coalition oil' mayors and city officials with a mission to reduce local greenhouse gas emissions that <br />involves a written commitment from the mayor or other city official to commit to reduction in annual <br />greenhouse gas emissions inventories, a greenhouse gas reduction target, and an updated Climate <br />Action Plan that addresses how the city will triect its greenhouse reduction targets and sets a <br />framework for Climate Adaptation; and <br />WHEREAS, to be consistent with the majority of Bay Area cities and with the State goals <br />outlined above, staff recommends that the City Council of the City of San Leandro direct staff to <br />prepare a Climate Action Plan, update with the goal of reducing GFIG emissions to 40% below 2005 <br />levels by the year 2030 and to 80% below 2005 levels by the year 2050; and <br />WHEREAS, the City Council is familiar with the contents thereof, and <br />WHEREAS, the City Manager recommends approval of said tat -gets. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of San.
