Executive Summary
Wastewater Capacity Charges Study
Wastewater capacity charges based on the City's current and recommended unit costs of capacity are
shown in the table below. Flow and BOD/SS strength from residential connections is considered uniform
among all connections in two categories - Single Family and Multiple Family. Current Flow assignments
for each category are changed to reflect reduction in indoor water use. Current BOD/SS strength
assignments for each category are increased in inverse proportion to indoor water use so that there is no
change in the mass of BOD/SS discharge to the sewer. Flow and BOD/SS strength from individual
nonresidential connections vary among a wide range. Flows shown for nonresidential connections are
provided only to facilitate comparison of capacity charges for different nonresidential loadings.
ES -2
I IHP1'I VIs" c4 nlu n1, cin this -h el 'i "IIhju l Nj; l hc I11111G9lIons LIcuff ,I al the c nd c4 his flc AIII =,i^dt
(gal./day)
Flow
(milligrams/liter)
BOD SS
Current
FY20
Difference
Dollars Percent
Unit Costs of Capacity
Flow, $/gallons per day
$20.51
$22.02
$1.51
7.4%
BOD, $/pounds per day
$838.61
$938.00
$99.39
11.9%
SS, $/pounds per day
$961.17
$993.00
$31.83
3.3%
Residential Capacity Charges
Single Family current>
189
195
195
$4,389
$3,920
-$469
-10.7%
FY20>
145
300
320
Multiple Family current>
158
193
193
$3,664
$3,270
-$394
-10.8%
FY20>
121
300
320
Nonresidential Capacity Charges
High Strength
3,000
1,000
600
$96,940
$104,440
$7,500
7.7%
Medium Strength
3,000
500
600
$86,450
$92,700
$6,250
7.2%
Low Strength
145
300
320
$3,650
$3,920
$270
7.4%
ES -2
I IHP1'I VIs" c4 nlu n1, cin this -h el 'i "IIhju l Nj; l hc I11111G9lIons LIcuff ,I al the c nd c4 his flc AIII =,i^dt
