• Do not eat or drink during sample collection. <br />• Do not breather, sneeze, or cough in the direction of an open sample container. <br />In general, in case of a spill, <br />1. Clean up leaks and spills immediately. <br />2. Use a rag for smaller spills on paved surfaces, a damp mop for general cleanup, and absorbent <br />material for larger spills. If the spilled material is hazardous, then the used cleanup materials are also <br />hazardous and must be sent to either a certified laundry or disposed of as hazardous waste. <br />3. Never hose down or bury dry material spills. Clean up as much of the material as possible and <br />dispose of properly. <br />In case of a spill small enough to be contained by the first responder: <br />1. Contain the spread of the spill <br />2, Recover spilled materials <br />3. Clean the contaminated area and properly dispose of contaminated materials <br />In case of a semi -significant spill that that can be controlled by the first responder with the aid of other onsite <br />personnel: <br />1. Contain the spread of the spill <br />2. Notify the foreman/manager <br />3. If the spill occurs on hardscape, clean up using absorbent materials. Contain the spill by encircling <br />with absorbent materials and do not let the spill spread widely, <br />4. If the spill occurs in dirt areas, immediately contain the spill by constructing an earthen dike. Dig up <br />and properly dispose of contaminated soil. <br />5. If the spill occurs during rain, cover spill with tarps or other material to prevent contaminating run-off. <br />In case of a significant/hazardous large-scale spill that cannot be controlled by personnel in the immediate <br />vicinity immediately notify emergency response by dialing 911 and see the CASQA BMP WM-4 section on <br />Significant/Hazardous spills for further contact information. <br />In all cases of spills greater than the first level of severity, notify San Leandro Environmental Services using <br />the aforementioned contact information. In the case of a spill which requires more expertise or personnel <br />than is available onsite, contact the Alameda County Fire Department using the aforementioned contact <br />information. <br />1.7 TRAINING <br />The site user shall identify the appropriate staff to be trained. Ideally, staff will consist of full-time or part-time <br />staff, employed by the site user, who will be trained to perform maintenance and inspection activities in <br />addition to their standard responsibilities which pertain to the operation of the site user's business. Training <br />shall include: <br />1. good housekeeping procedures as defined in this plan <br />14 <br />
