IN THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN LEANDRO <br />RESOLUTION NO. 2019-202 <br />RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF SAN LEANDRO CITY COUNCIL TO <br />AUTHORIZE THE CITY MANAGER TO ALLOCATE $23,000 FROM THE GENERAL <br />FUND TO THE ALTA MIRA CLUB FOR THE REPAIR AND RESTORATION <br />STAINED GLASS PANELS AND WINDOW AT THE YGNACIO PERALTA HOUSE <br />(HISTORICAL LANDMARK 4285) <br />WHEREAS, the Alta Mira Club of San Leandro is a member of the California Federation <br />of Women's Clubs; and <br />WHEREAS, the General Federation of Women's Clubs (GFWC) is an international <br />women's organization dedicated to community improvement by enhancing the lives of others <br />through volunteer service for more than 126 years; and <br />WHEREAS, the Clubs of GFWC are located throughout California with the primary <br />purposes of carrying out charitable service programs, providing leadership opportunities, and <br />enriching the lives of its members through personal growth; and <br />WHEREAS, Alta Mira Club's purpose is to promote community cultural education, social <br />welfare, and to encourage public participation in civic affairs; and <br />WHEREAS, Alta Mira Club also maintains a historic residence located at 561 Lafayette <br />Avenue in San Leandro, which is used to host a range of public and community events throughout <br />the year; and <br />WHEREAS, the historic house was constructed in 1860 and is now in need of a window <br />and art glass panel repairs that will be of benefit to the public; and <br />WHEREAS, the Alta Mira Club submitted to the City proposals from art glass specialists <br />identifying the costs of repairing the window and conserving the art glass panes, the total costs of <br />which are estimated to be $28,535; and <br />WHEREAS, the City Council is familiar with the contents thereof; and <br />WHEREAS, the City Manager recommends approval of allocating sufficient funds from <br />the City's General Fund to address these repairs, because it is in the City's interests for the Alta <br />Mira Chub to continue its community activities, which provide broad benefits to the public. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of San Leandro does RESOLVE as <br />follows: <br />1. That the City Manager is authorized to issue a $23,000 payment to the Alta Mira Club <br />in order to address the window and art glass repairs of the historic Ygnacio Peralta House located <br />at 561 Lafayette Avenue (including $20,000 in existing General Fund appropriations from the <br />Community Investment account 010-14-010-8513, and $3,000 in previously approved annual <br />appropriations from the Arts Commission's account 010-14-010-8516) <br />2. That copies of any final costs associated with the repairs shall be submitted to the City <br />following completion of the project. <br />
