<br /> 11 <br />Accessory Uses and Structures. Uses and structures that are subordinate, incidental, and <br />related to the principal permitted or conditionally permitted use or structure on the same lot <br />a site and are customarily found on the same site. This classification includes, for example, <br />home occupations, and caretaker’s quarters as defined in this Code. <br /> <br />Acre, Gross. A measure of land area prior to division or dedication for streets, public im- <br />provements, or other purposes. <br /> <br />Acre, Net. A measure of developable land area, after excluding existing dedicated rights- <br />of-way and flood control and drainage easements. <br /> <br />Activity. The performance of a function or operation. <br /> <br />Activity Type. A type of activity which is specially described as such by the use classifica- <br />tions in various sections of the Code on the basis of common functional characteristics and <br />similar effects on other uses, and which is designated throughout the zoning regulations by <br />a special name each word of which starts with a capital letter. <br /> <br />Administrative Review. An administrative use permit approval that is granted by the Zon- <br />ing Enforcement Official, if it meets certain criteria and that does not require a public hear- <br />ing. <br /> <br />Adult-Oriented Business. “Adult-Oriented Business” means any of the following: <br /> <br />A. Adult Arcade. An establishment where, for any form of consideration, one or more still <br />or motion picture projectors or similar machines, for viewing by five or fewer persons <br />each, are used to show films, computer-generated images, motion pictures, video cas- <br />settes, slides, or other photographic reproductions, a substantial portion of which are <br />distinguished or characterized by an emphasis upon the depiction or description of <br />specified sexual activities or specified anatomical areas. <br /> <br />B. Adult Bookstore. An establishment that has a substantial portion of its stock in books, <br />magazines, periodicals, or other printed matter or of photographs, films, motion pic- <br />tures, video cassettes, slides, tapes, records, or other forms of visual or audio repre- <br />sentations which are distinguished or characterized by an emphasis upon the depiction <br />or description of specified sexual activities and/or specified anatomical areas. Items <br />sold over the Internet are included for the purposes of determining a substantial portion. <br /> <br />C. Adult Cabaret. A nightclub, restaurant, or similar business establishment which: (1) <br />regularly features live performances which are distinguished or characterized by an <br />emphasis upon the display of specified anatomical areas or specified sexual activities; <br />and/or (2) which regularly features persons who appear semi-nude; and/or (3) shows <br />films, computer-generated images, motion pictures, video cassettes, slides, or other <br />City Council Hearing March 2, 2020 281
