June 24, 2020Rules Committee Minutes <br />RULES COMMITTEE COMMENTS: <br />a. The Committee questioned whether the a business owner with a current contract <br />would be able to serve on the Task Force. <br />b. The Committee recommends the Vision Statement by Councilmember Aguilar be <br />included in the report to City Council <br />c. The Committee discussed acknowledging the demographics of the City and <br />ensuring the Task Force applicants were representative of the City's demographics. <br />d. The Committee recommends staff work on a timeline of expectations for the Task <br />Force <br />e. The Committee discussed acknowledging fellow Councilmember Benny Lee for his <br />roll with the National League of California Cities and that he would be a good resource <br />to utilize. <br />f. The Committee recommends staff work on creating an inclusive and detailed <br />application to help bring diversity to the Committee. <br />There being no further comments, by consensus, the Rules Committee recommends <br />this matter be reported out to Council for further discussion. <br />2.B.20-289 Discussion Regarding Future Agenda Items <br />The outstanding discussion topics will be brought back to the Rules Committee. <br />PUBLIC COMMENTS3. <br />There were approximately 5 public speakers. <br />Public Comments were made by the following individuals: <br />Douglas Spalding, Mary Tieh, Stephen Michael Tow, Celina Reynes, and Sarah McFall <br />Bailey. <br />COMMITTEE MEMBER COMMENTS4. <br />ADJOURN5. <br />The meeting was adjourned at 11:45 a.m. <br />RESPECTFULLY SUBMITTED: <br />___________________________________ <br />LETICIA I.
