May 14, 2020Disaster Council Minutes <br />COVID response funding, while looking to re-appropriate funds for other purposes. <br />Public hearings will be held in June, in order to be transparent and do it right. <br />San Leandro police reported that they continue to be engaged with the County OES <br />and are providing updates to staff. There have been over 400 calls for COVID <br />violations. Call for service are starting to increase. Property crimes are down, but <br />violent crimes are picking up. The building is being kept clean and PPE supplies are <br />being monitored. <br />Healthcare Services <br />•Hospitals <br />•Davis Street Family Resource Center <br />•Red Cross <br />•SL Elder Care Alliance <br />2.D. <br />Kaiser Hospital shared that the Hayward testing sites is looking for funding and the <br />hospital has guidelines in place and are going to start allowing elective surgeries, while <br />developing a plan to handle PPE needs. Testing at the hospital is by appointment only <br />for those who are symptomatic. <br />San Leandro Hospital reported that they have started testing at their facility for <br />ambulatory care clinics, those having surgery and the testing is by appointment and <br />based on a physician’s order. The facility received some doses of Remdesivir. The <br />facility is looking forward to the next phase and restoring services. <br />Davis Street Family Resource Center reported that they have provided 5 days’ worth of <br />food to a daily average of 75 families. Jefferson has 48 children. Testing continues at <br />the clinic and when there is a positive test, they are working with ACPHD. They are <br />working to get out the city grants for assistance to families. A local holiday bike <br />donor, Abbott, is working on an antibody test. <br />Red Cross is planning for wildfire response, though procedures will be different. <br />School Districts <br />•San Leandro <br />•San Lorenzo <br />2.E. <br />San Leandro Unified reported that all programs, food distribution (25,000 meals per <br />week at 3 sites), distance learning, deep cleaning, and construction, are going well. <br />All awards, cap and gowns distribution were completed and a virtual graduation will be <br />on June 4th. The District is working on how to enroll new students on June 9 and 11 <br />by appointment at the Barbara Lee Center, while maintaining social distancing. Rocky <br />reported that he will discuss opening the tracks and green spaces with the <br />Superintendent. <br />San Lorenzo Unified reported that the Alameda County Library System provided 500 <br />new children’s books to be provided in the food distribution, which is happening at four <br />sites and providing over 1100 meals daily. The District is working with Primus Visuals <br />Company to provide virtual graduation ceremonies and the San Lorenzo High School’s <br />Bay Area Digital Arts program will be videotaping the speeches. <br />Page 4City of San Leandro
