October 1, 2020Disaster Council Minutes <br />Healthcare Services <br />• Hospitals <br />• Davis Street Family Resource Center <br />• Red Cross <br />• SL Elder Care Alliance <br />2.D. <br />Kaiser Hospital reported that they are doing drive through flu clinics, which is going <br />well. Any Kaiser members can now sign up on the KP website for a COVID test. <br />San Leandro Hospital reported that this has been a busy year with all the incidents we <br />all have had to deal with and we have worked together to overcome the issues like <br />limited PPE, the impact from wildfire smoke, and heat, while maintaining the safety of <br />employees and patients. They have provided staff with equipment and information <br />needed for response. They are preparing for the flu season. They were going to <br />participate in the Great Shakeout on 10/15, but have stopped that due to a possible <br />work stoppage. <br />Red Cross reported that since March 1, within the county, Red Cross has had 202 <br />responses, mostly for fires and served 751 clients. In San Leandro, there have been 4 <br />responses and 14 clients served, mostly small apartment fires. They are busy working <br />in areas where there are fires, but also trying to maintain a presence within the county. <br />School Districts <br />• San Leandro <br />• San Lorenzo <br />2.E. <br />San Leandro Unified reported that the District has created a new program called T.E.C. <br />(Technology Educator Consultants), which has staff assisting schools and student <br />distant learning cohort to cultivate conditions that provide meaningful and engaging <br />technology support. This program will increase the District’s capabilities in the <br />technology arena, but also expand the efforts to provide a quality educational <br />experience. The ASES (Afterschool Education and Safety) program is being expanded <br />to Wilson Elementary and will have 12 students M-F from 2:30 p.m. – 6 p.m., similar to <br />the program at Jefferson, with a tentative start date of Oct 26. The contract renewal <br />process for the Champions program is complete and it has been began at Madison <br />Elementary, starting 10/1. Champions is a long standing partner of the district and is a <br />leader in extended learning programs that are tailored specifically to a school’s needs <br />and fosters learning in an engaging experience. It will host 12 students from K- 5th <br />grade in an all-day program M-F. <br />The District is reviewing all guidance from County Public Health and Education, are <br />planning accordingly to reopen, based on County protocols. The District is working with <br />labor unions to reach agreements on the best way to resume in person instructions. <br />Utilities <br />• PG&E <br />• EBCE <br />2.F. <br />EBCE reported that there is a flex alert from 2-10 p.m. and people are asked to <br />conserve energy.
