McDaniel <br />Announcements1.B. <br />Members of the Disaster Council introduced themselves and the agencies they <br />represent. <br />DISCUSSION ITEMS2. <br />City of San Leandro response to COVID-19 <br />• San Leandro City Council <br />2.A. <br />Mayor Cutter thanked everybody joining the meeting. The City is still trying to confirm if <br />the test site will be available through October. As of the beginning of the month, 6300 <br />tests have been given, to people from 50 different zip codes, with 40% from San <br />Leandro and overall, there is a 3% positive rate, with Latinex having a 7.3% rate. 63% <br />of all test takers are female, while males having higher positive rate. The City is <br />working with the school district to provide space for learning hubs. One of the food <br />banks is allowing the public to come back and start selecting their own food. Food <br />banks do need more volunteers to assist with sorting food. <br />Vice Mayor Ballew acknowledged the hard work that the police and the fire staff have <br />been doing during the current fire season. It is good to hear that the clean air center <br />has been set up. Based on reports about the decreased flu season in the Southern <br />Hemisphere, hopefully the same results will occur in the Northern Hemisphere, and <br />messaging about wearing masks and getting a flu shot need to continue. <br />Councilmember Lopez thanked City Manager Kay for responding to constituents about <br />getting clean air facilities and requested more information about the capacity of the <br />Page 2City of San Leandro <br />40
