3.Allows a tenant or occupant of a sleeping room to subrent the room for a period of time <br />that is less than 10 hours. <br />E. Adult Motion Picture Theater. A business establishment where, for any form of <br />consideration, films, computer generated images, motion pictures, video cassettes, slides or <br />similar photographic reproductions are shown, a substantial portion of which are <br />distinguished or characterized by an emphasis upon the depiction or description of specified <br />sexual activities or specified anatomical areas. <br />F. Adult Theater. A theater, concert hall, auditorium, or similar establishment which, for any <br />form of consideration, regularly features live performances which are distinguished or <br />characterized by an emphasis upon the depiction or description of specified anatomical <br />areas or specified sexual activities. <br />G. Modeling Studio. A business which provides, for pecuniary compensation, monetary or other <br />consideration, hire or reward, figure models who, for the purposes of sexual stimulation of <br />patrons, display “specified anatomical areas” to be observed, sketched, photographed, <br />painted, sculpted, or otherwise depicted by persons paying such consideration. “Modeling <br />studio” does not include schools maintained pursuant to standards set by the State Board of <br />Education. “Modeling studio” further does not include a studio or similar facility owned, <br />operated, or maintained by an individual artist or group of artists, and which does not <br />provide, permit, or make available “specified sexual activities.” <br />Air Cargo Processing Centers. See “Parcel Processing and Shipping Centers” and “Truck Terminals.” <br />Airport Safety Zone. A planning boundary near the ends of airport runways, adopted by the Alameda <br />County Airport Land Use Commission (ALUC) within which land uses are limited in density, building <br />height and type due to accident potential. <br />Alley. A public way having a width of not more than 20 feet permanently reserved primarily for <br />vehicular service access to the rear or side of properties otherwise abutting on a street. <br />Alter. To make a change in the exterior appearance or the supporting members of a structure, such as <br />bearing walls, columns, beams, or girders, that will prolong the life of the structure. <br />Ambulance Services, Emergency. Provision of emergency medical care or transportation for critically <br />injured or ill patients, including incidental storage and maintenance of vehicles and residential <br />quarters for employees. <br />Ambulance Services, Non-Emergency. Provisions of non-emergency ambulance services to transport <br />residents home from the hospital or to meet routine medical needs, including incidental storage and <br />maintenance of vehicles. Siren use is not practiced. <br />Amendment. A change in the wording, context or substance of this chapter, or a change in the district <br />boundaries on the zoning map. <br />392
