January 21, 2021Disaster Council Minutes
Rosegate Care Center had an outbreak but did not lose anyone. They attribute that to
being hypervigilant and were able to use the alternative treatments available. They
received high accolades from ACPHD about their response.
School Districts
• San Leandro
• San Lorenzo
2.E.
San Leandro Unified reported that they opened the 6th ASES program at Washington.
Two more are slated to open in February at Bancroft and John Muir Middle schools. A
question was asked that once the schools are open, will the cohorts be the same as
those in the ASES program and the answer is that they could be two different groups
or a combination. The ASES programs are geared for those who need more
assistance.
The Mayor shared that a lot of community members are telling her that they are willing
to volunteer to do reading programs and they are being directed to contact the school
district and schools. The city might be able to coordinate with SLKindeness to assist
with connecting people but will need to do more in order to meet school criteria and the
Mayor would like to have a meeting with the school district to discuss this.
San Lorenzo Unified was not available for a report.
Utilities
• PG&E
• EBCE
2.F.
No utilities were available for a report.
Other Agencies within the City
• Chamber of Commerce
• Faith Based Organizations
• Building Futures with Women and Children
2.G.
Unity Church welcomed the idea that Councilmember Ballew suggested and will be
taking it back to the San Leandro faith-based organizations. There was a
remembrance on Tuesday and a day of service on Monday before the inauguration.
The congregation has started a writing campaign to say thank you to front line workers.
PUBLIC COMMENTS3.
No public comment was received
ADJOURN4.
The meeting was adjourned at 2:58 p.m.
Page 5City of San Leandro
32
