February 4, 2021Disaster Council Minutes <br />Staff also provided an update on the staff changes occurring within the Police <br />Department. <br />There was discussion about how to assist residents in obtaining appointments, <br />especially for those who do not have access to computers and how the messaging can <br />be pushed out to encourage people to get vaccinated. <br />RHS staff thanked the State and Federal Government for the megapod at the <br />Coliseum. SCC has been offered as possible future vaccine site. ACFD were also <br />thanked for their assistance at Tiburcio Vasquez, which like most Federally Qualified <br />Health Centers (FQHC) have vaccines, including Davis Street. This allows the <br />medically fragile and lower income socioeconomic status have vaccines. <br />Healthcare Services <br />• Hospitals <br />• Davis Street Family Resource Center <br />• Red Cross <br />• SL Elder Care Alliance <br />2.D. <br />Kaiser Hospital shared that the frustration that the public is feeling is understandable <br />and reminded everyone to be patient because the biggest limitation right now is <br />supply. Kaiser is reaching out to its 75 and older patients though multiple sources and <br />getting them signed up, though people do not have a choice to what vaccine they <br />receive. Kaiser has a website and 24-hr phone number that is being updated regularly, <br />kp.org/covidvaccine, and the recorded message hotline at 1-855-550-0951 (available in <br />English and Spanish). Kaiser and Sutter were trying to work out a plan to provide <br />vaccines at the Coliseum, but they are looking at other means to do so. For now, <br />Kaiser will continue to provide an onsite vaccine clinic at the San Leandro site and will <br />continue to work with the ACPHD for providing a POD. <br />San Leandro Hospital reported that they have had a leadership transition with Mr. <br />James Jackson coming back as the CEO for Alameda Health Systems. They are <br />providing vaccines to employees and will be expanding out to patients 65 and over <br />soon using the ambulatory clinics. During the recent storms, they were able to sustain <br />operations with no damage or interruption in service. <br />Davis Street Family Resource Center was not available for a report, though the Mayor <br />did report that they have provided over 1000 vaccinations and are continuing to do <br />more. They are helping people to register. It has been a smooth, well run, and safe <br />event. <br />Red Cross reported that they deployed staff to Santa Cruz due to mudslides. <br />School Districts <br />• San Leandro <br />• San Lorenzo <br />2.E. <br />San Leandro Unified reported the food distribution program is going well. The District <br />have 6 ASES and Champion sites open and will be opening 2 more and children are <br />now allowed to use the playground equipment. The District is sharing information with <br />families about vaccines in multiple languages and are doing a pilot program to tests <br />teachers, in order to allow small in-person learning cohorts. <br />San Lorenzo Unified reported they are preparing re-opening plans, which will be <br />Page 4City of San Leandro <br />48
