Galvanized steel wall framing, galvanized electrical conduits, galvanized pipe <br />trays, and galvanized cable trays: <br />a. Areas on galvanized items or parts where galvanizing has been <br />damaged during handling or construction shall be repaired as follows: <br />1) Clean damaged areas by SSPC SP-1, SP-2, SP-3, or SP-7 as <br />required. <br />2) Apply 2 coats of a cold galvanizing zinc compound in strict accordance <br />with manufacturer’s instructions. <br />6. Grease fittings. <br />7. Fiberglass ducting or tanks in concealed locations. <br />8. Steel to be encased in concrete or masonry. <br /> <br />3.16 SCHEDULE OF SURFACES TO BE COATED IN THE FIELD <br /> <br />A. In general, apply coatings to steel, iron, galvanized surfaces, and wood surfaces <br />unless specified or otherwise indicated. Coat concrete surfaces and anodized <br />aluminum only when specifically indicated. <br /> <br />B. Following schedule is incomplete. Coat unlisted surfaces with same coating <br />system as similar listed surfaces. Verify questionable surfaces. <br /> <br />C. Metals: <br />1. Alkali resistant bitumastic: <br />a. Aluminum surfaces to be placed in contact with wood, concrete, or <br />masonry. <br />2. Wax coating: <br />a. Sliding faces of sluice and slide gates and threaded portions of gate <br />stems. <br />3. High solids epoxy and polyurethane system: Interior and exterior non- <br />immersed ferrous metal surfaces including: <br />a. Doors, doorframes, ventilators, louvers, grilles, exposed sheet metal, and <br />flashing. <br />b. Pipe, valves, pipe hangers, supports and saddles, cable tray hangers, <br />and supports. <br />c. Motors and motor accessory equipment. <br />d. Drive gear, drive housing, coupling housings, and miscellaneous gear <br />drive equipment. <br />e. Valve and gate operators and stands. <br />f. Structural steel including galvanized structural steel. <br />1) Exposed metal decking. <br />g. Crane and hoist rails. <br />h. Exterior of tanks and other containment vessels. <br />i.
