<br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />Proclamation Declaring Hispanic Heritage Month in San Leandro <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City of San Leandro takes great pride in recognizing National Hispanic Heritage <br />Month from September 15th to October 15th; and <br /> <br />WHERAS, celebrating the Hispanic & Latinx community provides an opportunity to publicly honor <br />its culture along with its vast and invaluable contributions made to our world, country & City; and <br />WHEREAS, since1968, National Hispanic Heritage Month has commenced each year on the <br />anniversary of independence of numerous Latin American countries and whose 2021 theme is <br />Esperanza: A Celebration of Hispanic Heritage and Hope; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, many members of the Latinx community trace their roots to the cultures of various <br />groups including the indigenous peoples of the Americas, the Spanish explorers, or to enslaved <br />Africans who were brought to the Americas against their own will; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Hispanic and Latinx community represents a significant and fast growing <br />demographic of San Leandro and is an important and vital part to the fabric of our community. <br /> <br /> <br />NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that I, Pauline Russo Cutter, Mayor of the City of <br />San Leandro, do hereby proclaim September 15th – October 15th, 2021 as Hispanic and Latino <br />Heritage Month in San Leandro and encourage our community to join us in celebrating the great <br />contributions of Hispanic and Latinx Americans to our city, state, and nation. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set <br />my hand and caused the Seal of the City of San <br />Leandro to be affixed this 4th day of October 2021. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />
