<br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />UNITED AGAINST HATE WEEK <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the United States is a nation of immigrants, whose strength comes from its <br />Diversity; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, United Against Hate Week calls for local civic action by residents of every Bay Area <br />community to stop the hate and implicit biases that are a dangerous threat to the safety and civility of <br />neighborhoods, towns, and cities; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, civic leaders directly respond to expressions of hate in communities and empower <br />residents to take action to alter the course of intolerance; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the number of hate crimes committed across the United States each year continues to be a <br />subject matter of significant ongoing public concern; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City of San Leandro is deeply committed to inclusivity and promotes a hate-free <br />environment that fosters a safe and flourishing community; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, education, compassion, and cooperation are key to understanding and embracing <br />differences between people, and the recognition of Untied Against Hate week will further state our shared <br />values and reiterate our commitment to inclusivity. <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, I, Pauline Russo Cutter, Mayor of the City of San Leandro, do hereby proclaim <br />November 14-20, 2021 as “UNITED AGAINST HATE WEEK” in the City of San Leandro and acknowledge <br />this important step in bridging divisions and healing communities. <br /> <br /> <br />IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my <br />hand and caused the Seal of the City of San Leandro to <br />be affixed this fifteenth day of November 2021. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />16
