<br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />Honoring Keith R. Cooke for His 27 Years of Service <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Keith R. Cooke began his 27-year career with the City of San Leandro’s Engineering <br />and Transportation Department in 1994 as an Associate Engineer. He was then promoted to Senior <br />Engineer and subsequently served as Principal Engineer for 12 years. He has led the department as Director <br />since 2015, and is now ready to retire; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Keith is a former President of the Public Works Officers Department of the League of <br />California Cities; and was honored with the League’s prestigious 2017 James L. Martin Award, in <br />recognition of his significant contributions to the profession; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Keith is a long-standing member of a nationally esteemed fraternal organization, <br />Omega Psi Phi. He upholds their motto of “Friendship is Essential to the Soul” and through his dedicated <br />service in this organization, has mentored and impacted the lives of many young African American men in <br />the Oakland and San Leandro communities; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Keith leaves the City of San Leandro with a long legacy of design and engineering <br />contributions. Among them are his work to secure $30M in Measure BB funds for San Leandro to improve <br />road pavement conditions, add bicycle lanes, and enhance pedestrian crossings; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Keith’s lasting legacy of dedication and passion for public service will be <br />remembered, as will his commitment to providing the highest level of service to the City of San Leandro. <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, I, Pauline Russo Cutter, Mayor of the City of San Leandro, do hereby <br />honor Keith R.
