<br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> Black History Month <br /> <br /> <br />WHEREAS, African Americans have made significant contributions to the artistic, economic, <br />educational, political, literary, religious, scientific, and technological advancements of the United <br />States; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the observance of Black History Month calls our attention to the continued need <br />for community action to end racism, extend mercy, and develop equity for everyone; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, we honor the men and women of African American descent, including past <br />generations who advocated for the ending of slavery and the enactment of civil rights laws, to <br />educators who answered a free people’s call for a free mind, and to ongoing efforts to press towards a <br />brighter and more equitable future; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City of San Leandro continues to work toward becoming an ever-more <br />inclusive community in which all residents are respected and recognized for their contributions to our <br />community, our state, our country, and the world regardless of the color of their skin. <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, I, Pauline Russo Cutter, Mayor of the City of San Leandro, do hereby <br />proclaim February 2022, as “Black History Month” in the City of San Leandro, and encourage the <br />public to join us in commemorating this important occasion in recognition of the numerous <br />contributions made by Black and African American communities locally, nationally, and globally. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my <br />hand and caused the Seal of the City of San Leandro <br />to be affixed this twenty-second day of February <br />2022. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />
