POTENTIALLY
ISSUES
POTENTIALLY
SIGNIFICANT
LESS THAN
NO
SIGNIFICANT
UNLESS
SIGNIFICANT
IMPACT
SOURCES
ISSUES
MITIGATION
IMPACT
INCORPORATED
0. Result in substantial soil erosion or the loss of
X
1, 2
topsoil?
C. Be located on a geologic unit or soil that is
X
2
unstable, or that would become unstable as a
result of the project, and potentially result in
on- or off -site landslide, lateral spreading,
subsidence, liquefaction or collapse:
d. Be located on expansive soil, creating
X
2
substantial risks of life or property?
e. Have soils capable of adequately supporting
X
2,7
the use of septic tanks or alternative waste
water disposal systems where sewers are not
available for the disposal of waste water?
f. Any increase in wind or water erosion of soils,
X
2,7
either on- or off -site?
g. Changes in deposition or erosion of beach,
X
2,7
sands, or changes in siltation, deposition or
erosion which may modify the channel of a
river or stream or the bed of the ocean or any
bay, inlet or lake?
EXPLANATION: The project area is located within the seismically -active Bay Area. Active faults that may influence the
earthquake susceptibility of the site include: the active Hayward fault mapped about 1 mile northeast of the site; the active Calaveras
fault located about 11 miles to the northeast; and the active San Andreas fault located about 17 miles southwest of the site. The
Hayward, Calaveras and San Andreas faults are major active faults capable of generating earthquakes estimated to have maximum
dible magnitudes of 7.1, 6.8 and 7.9, respectively. However, the site is not within a currently designated "Special Studies Zone"
active faults. Therefore, it is likely that during the lifetime of any future buildings constructed on the project site, they will be
___)ject to seismic shaking and other earthquake -induced effects. The Uniform Building Code requires new building construction to
meet requirements for construction in earthquake -prone areas, which is intended to minimize any potential impacts related to seismic
events. The project site is currently served by sewers for disposal of wastewater. Future developments would be required to connect
to the City's sewer system, therefore impacts related to soils types and septic tanks are not applicable. No significant impacts related
to geology and soils are anticipated.
4. HYDROLOGY AND WATER QUALITY. Would the project:
a. Violate any water quality standards or waste
X
2
discharge requirements?
b. Substantially deplete groundwater supplies or
X
2
interfere substantially with groundwater
recharge such that there would be a net deficit
in aquifer volume or a lowering of the local
groundwater table level (e.g., the production
rate of pre-existing nearby wells would drop to
a level which would not support existing land
uses or planned uses for which permits have
been anted?
C. Substantially alter the existing drainage pattern
X
2,7
of the site or area, including through the
alteration of the course of a stream or river, in
a manner which would result in substantial
erosion or siltation on- or off -site?
555 Estudillo - Initial Study Checklist q December 2001
(Form rev. 11/06/00)
I$
