CITY OF SAN LEANDRO <br />STAFF REPORT <br />DATE: February 19, 2002 <br />TO: John Jermanis, City Manager <br />APPROVED AND FORWARDED <br />TO CITY COUNCIL <br />mb <br />aooa- �8 <br />John rmanis oa- i9.- <br />City ager �� l5 <br />i <br />FROM: Hanson Hom, Community Development Direct <br />BY: Sally Barros, Planner I -�& <br />SUBJECT PROJECT/PROJECT DESCRIPTION: <br />Matter of City Council Creation of and Appointment of Members to an East 141h Street <br />South Area Ad Hoc Advisory Committee (SAAC) in order to gain the input and advice <br />from several housing service providers and a diverse and representative group of people <br />living, working and doing business in San Leandro, for the duration of the project. <br />SUMMARY AND RECOMMENDATION <br />Staff recommends that the City Council create an Ad Hoc Committee to guide staff in <br />preparing the East 14th Street Development Strategy and appoint the members presented <br />on the attached nominees list. <br />BACKGROUND <br />On December 17, 2001, in a noticed public hearing, the City Council authorized <br />staff to begin preparation of a Development Strategy for the East 141h Street South <br />Area. The Development Strategy included a proposal to form an Ad Hoc <br />Advisory Committee from existing City boards as well as business associations, <br />homeowners groups and non-profit developers that work or live within the South <br />Area. <br />At the January 22, 2002 City Council Economic Development /Redevelopment <br />Sub -committee meeting, the committee reviewed the possible composition of the <br />Ad Hoc Committee. The Sub -committee members suggested that staff compile a <br />list of nominees from the following city boards and community organizations: <br />Joint Area Redevelopment Advisory Committee, Planning Commission, Board of <br />Zoning Adjustments, Halcyon -Foothill Homeowners Association, Peralta <br />Citizen's Homeowners Association, Business Association of South San Leandro, <br />San Leandro Downtown Business Association, Eden Housing, and the East Bay <br />Housing Organization. <br />Is i <br />
