This improvement will provide an
entryway statement to the Marina waterfront, complimenting the Fairway Drive
entryway statement to the Marina. To achieve this goal, the City hired a
landscape architectural firm, John Cahalan, for this project.
In October 2000, staff presented the schematic design to the Facilities Committee
and was directed to proceed with preparation of construction documents. The
improvement will install a lighted entryway monument sign with sculpture, raised
landscaped concrete median and bike trail into the Marina. The sculpture will be
bid under a separate contract and will be of the image of birds in flight. The
project will also construct automatic irrigated landscaping and concrete seat walls
at the entry sign location.
Roadway improvements at the Marina Boulevard/Neptune Drive intersection will
channel traffic to limit traffic movement onto residential Neptune Drive.
"c-1
